Unbeknownst to many, the Madison Forward Fund is receiving funding from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services through the Center for Disease Control’s “Mobilizing Communities for a Just Response Grant.” While it is asserted that no state funding is going directly to families as $500 monthly cash payments, state resources are paying for the support staffing and outreach costs of the program.

“We have record high inflation due to government overspending,” said Rep. Allen, “and the Evers Administration thinks the best way to help recovery is to support a program that hands out more money and encourages people not to work when we have a worker shortage.”

The Madison Forward Fund states that the goal of the pilot program is to collect data to “reform current policies, guide future programs, advocate for a national guaranteed income program, and aid in the expansion of our social safety net.”

“Getting more people to be dependent on the government is the clear goal of this program. In the midst of a recession with high inflation, the Evers Administration seems to think that it’s better to have people receive money from the government than have people provide for themselves through employment. The hardworking people of Wisconsin need to know about the priorities of the Evers Administration and this waste of taxpayer money while it is still just a pilot program,” stated Rep. Allen.
