Madison – State Representative Janel Brandtjen (R- Menomonee Falls) issued the statement below regarding the City of Milwaukee Elections Chief Claire Woodall-Vogg and Michigan-based data firm Konnech. Eugene Yu, Konnech’s CEO, has been arrested for stealing poll worker data and storing it on servers based in China.

“It is absolutely mindboggling that the Chinese would have access to Milwaukee’s election workers. Poll workers need to be protected and the contract with Konnech should be canceled immediately. For those of us who have been doing everything we can to expose just how vulnerable electronic data is, this is yet another example of how little oversight there is. It’s time for leadership to become proactive on these issues, instead of constantly playing from behind.”
