Madison – State Representative Janel Brandtjen (R- Menomonee Falls) has received a response, including text messages, via open records requests from Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson. It appears that the operation formerly known as “Milwaukee Votes 22” is now “Wisconsin Votes.” In addition, the funding is now coming from the Center for Secure and Modern Elections through the High Ground Institute according to a text message to Mayor Johnson from Sachin Chheda. The Center for Secure and Modern Elections was established as a project of the left-leaning New Venture Fund, which has been criticized as a “dark money” organization that does not publicly disclose donors. Representative Brandtjen has issued new open records requests to address the “name changes.”

“Once again, Milwaukee – a city that democrats rely on to get their candidates elected into office- has teamed up with a high-level democrat operative. This time it’s Sachin Chheda, who serves as the Chairman Emeritus of the Democratic Party of Milwaukee County, to ‘Get Out The Vote’ in Milwaukee by using outside funds. This is a blatant attempt by the City of Milwaukee to collude with the Democratic Party to perform campaign functions,” Brandtjen said. “It’s the job of the candidates to motivate their voters; it is not the government’s job,” Brandtjen added.
