MADISON – Yesterday, the Wisconsin Supreme Court came to a 4-3 decision regarding the redistricting case, ruling in favor of Governor Evers’ proposed maps. Rep. Dave Considine (D-Baraboo) released the following statement on this decision:

“I continue to stand by the statement that people should choose their representatives, not the other way around. However, I am encouraged by the Wisconsin Supreme Court Ruling. Of the options before the court, I am heartened to see that the maps put forth by legislative leaders were rejected. These maps would have only worsened the partisan gerrymandering in the state.

“While I do not believe that the least-change approach that the Wisconsin Supreme Court took is legitimate, I recognize that the new maps are a step in the right direction. As a representative of the people of Wisconsin, I will continue to advocate for fair and competitive maps. Wisconsinites deserve to have fair maps, drawn by a non-partisan commission. It is my hope that we will be able to accomplish this in the future. For now, I will celebrate this victory and thank the many of you from the district that have been fighting for fair maps.”
