Rep. Duchow released the following statement regarding President Biden’s State of the Union address:

Wisconsin is used to seeing a politician in over his head and disconnected from those he represents, and we saw more of the same tonight. Under the Biden Administration, we’ve gone from crisis to crisis.

Wisconsinites are paying higher prices at the gas pump and in the grocery store. Heating bills are up. Years of poor monetary policy has led to the worst inflation rate in 40 years. Schools are ignoring basic education subjects like arithmetic and English and prioritizing divisive racial teachings. Supply chain issues remain unresolved. Violent crime is commonplace. Employers are desperate for qualified workers. Illegal border crossings are on the rise, as are drug overdose deaths. Illegal vaccine mandates have cost tens of thousands of hardworking people their jobs. Healthcare workers whose religious freedoms and personal healthcare choices were questioned have left the field, leaving hospitals with dangerous staffing shortages.

At both the state and federal level, we have government obsessed with climate change and woke politics. With an increased threat of nuclear war, the Administration’s advice on surviving a nuclear attack is to wear a mask and socially distance.

Policies affect people. The legislature is focused and working on behalf of the people we represent to mitigate the extraordinary damage being done by the President, the Governor, and the ever-expanding administrative state. Fortunately, Republican ideas are helping families weather the storm. Tax cuts are helping families pay for increased energy and food costs. We’re taking steps to get tough on crime and rehabilitate those who have fallen victim to drug abuse. We’re expanding our workforce in every sector, investing in actual education, and exploring ways to make housing more affordable.

Wisconsin’s best days are still ahead.
