MADISON – Representative James Edming (R-Glen Flora) released the following statement regarding his appointment by Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) as the chairman of the Assembly Committee on Veterans and Military Affairs for the 2022-2023 Legislative Session.

“During my time in the Legislature, I am proud to have been a strong advocate for our veterans and active duty service members. While I am not a veteran myself, I have always had a great deal of respect for those who put on the uniform and serve in our nation’s armed forces.

“This past session I’m proud to have lead the efforts on several initiatives to support our veterans and active duty service members including increased funding for county veterans service offices and eliminating the state income tax on active-duty military pay during the state budget process. I was also proud to author a law that ensures active-duty service members and their families aren’t stuck paying out-of-state tuition when they have to relocate outside of Wisconsin due to their military service.

“I look forward to leading the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee this upcoming session and hope that through this committee we can help foster new ideas to support our brave veterans and active duty service members.”

Rep. Edming has also been appointed to serve as a member on the following committees,

· Forestry, Parks, and Outdoor Recreation

· Labor and Integrated Employment

· Rural Development

· Transportation.
