MADISON – Today, the Wisconsin State Assembly voted on multiple GOP gun bills (AB 498, AB 495, AB 518, AB 597). Rep. Jodi Emerson (D-Eau Claire) released the following statement in response:
“These bills are not wanted or needed. The combined efforts of these bills allow for an 18 year old in high school to carry a firearm on school grounds. Our educators, students, and their families already fear school shootings and gun violence, we don’t need to increase the odds of that happening. This is just another baseless attempt by Republicans to solve our state’s gun violence epidemic with dangerous bills.”
