Madison, WI – Representative Rick Gundrum (R-Slinger) released the following statement after  Governor Evers announced the veto of Assembly Bill 518. AB 518 would have removed a bureaucratic  hurdle which makes Wisconsin’s present approach to concealed carry reciprocity confusing. Wisconsin’s  present system creates a regulatory patchwork of acceptable licenses. This affects both visitors and part time residents and requires them to navigate a confusing maze of burdensome red tape.

“I am not surprised to see Governor Evers veto this bill. It is no secret that, if Governor Evers had his  way, Wisconsin would be a state that is far less friendly to the Second Amendment. The governor, by  vetoing this bill, is telling progressive lawmakers in liberal bastions such as Oregon and Vermont that  they need to get to work on further trampling our constitutional rights.”
