MADISON, Wis. – Today, Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer announced committee appointments for the upcoming 2023-24 legislative session. Assistant Leader Kalan Haywood (D-Milwaukee) has been appointed to the following standing committees: Housing and Real Estate (ranking member), Transportation, Energy and Utilities, and Rules. In his capacity as Assistant Leader, Rep. Haywood will also serve on the Joint Legislative Council, and Joint Committee on Legislative Organization.

In addition to legislative committees, Rep. Haywood will continue to serve on the boards of the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) and the Wisconsin Center District (WCD).

In response, Rep. Haywood released the following statement:

“It is an honor to be selected to serve on these committees. My time serving in this body and my life experience have given me the tools and expertise to serve the needs of the people of Wisconsin. My colleagues and I are willing to produce bipartisan solutions while also putting forth and defending our progressive values and ideas. People are ready to move past partisan deadlock and the legislature must show them that we are ready to invest in them to make Wisconsin a great place to live, learn, work and prosper.”

“I am especially excited to resume my role as the ranking member on Housing and Real Estate. Housing availability affects nearly every facet of our lives including employment, education and the economy. I will work tirelessly to find solutions to increase access to affordable housing and all the opportunities that come with it in my district, and across the state. I, along with my colleagues are committed to create positive change and make a difference in the lives of everyday Wisconsinites.”
