Milwaukee, Wis – Assembly Democratic Assistant Leader Representative Kalan Haywood II (D- Milwaukee) released the following statement regarding the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s ruling on ballot drop boxes:
“By prohibiting the use of drop boxes moving forward, the WI Supreme Court has further limited crucial access to the ballot box. The use of absentee ballot drop boxes has been repeatedly and baselessly attacked by Republicans, who falsely claim that the use of drop boxes led to widespread voter fraud in 2020. According to court rulings, audits, and recounts, the 2020 election was fair secure, and accurate.”
“The decision to utilize absentee ballot drop boxes helped Wisconsinites safely participate in democracy during an unprecedented global pandemic. It is anti-democratic and un-American for the WI Supreme Court to disenfranchise and suppress the vote of working families, the homebound, and the disabled.”
