MADISON – Last night, Governor Tony Evers delivered his fourth State of the State Address to a joint meeting of the Wisconsin State Legislature. Rep. Dianne Hesselbein (D – Middleton) released the following statement:

“In his speech last night, Governor Evers laid out his continued vision for a better and brighter Wisconsin. Thanks to the steadfast stewardship of our governor, Wisconsin is entering 2022 with the largest surplus in state history and I’m pleased to see that Governor Evers has a plan to put those dollars back into Wisconsin households.

“Governor Evers announced that he is calling a special session of the legislature to address the rising costs faced by our working families, reduce barriers to unemployment, and reinvest in our public schools. I join the governor in calling on my Republican colleagues to get serious about supporting the people in the state of Wisconsin.

“I thank Governor Evers for his tireless work on behalf of all Wisconsinites. Governor Evers continues to lead with kindness and a bold vision to make Wisconsin a better place.”
