Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Ron Kind released the following statement after President Joe Biden announced the launch of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework:

“I commend the Biden Administration for taking this step to expand American economic engagement in the Indo-Pacific region and strengthen ties with allies. Additionally, I’m glad to see a focus on seeking high-standard commitments. The Indo-Pacific region is projected to be the biggest contributor to global growth over the next 30 years, and the simple fact is we can’t afford to walk away from the global stage and cede leadership in this fast-growing area. I look forward to coordinating with the Administration on this Framework and continuing to work to unlock new markets and opportunities for Wisconsinites.”

Rep. Kind serves on the Ways and Means Committee, the most powerful – and the oldest – committee in the House of Representatives. It has jurisdiction over tax measures, the management of public debt, trade and tariff laws, Social Security, Medicare, pensions, and many other economic growth measures.
