New Berlin…Representative Mike Kuglitsch (R-New Berlin) announced earlier today he will be retiring from the State Assembly and not run for re-election this fall.  Rep. Kuglitsch released the following statement:

“It has been an honor and humbling experience serving the citizens of the 84th Assembly District in the Wisconsin State Assembly.  In all seasons of life, you just know when it is time to move on.  Today, I am announcing that I will not be seeking re-election in 2022,” said Kuglitsch.

In addition, Representative Kuglitsch said, “I have had the opportunity to meet and forge great friendships with many individuals from across this wonderful state.  I was blessed to enter the Assembly with 25 freshman legislators in 2011.  These individuals come from all parts of the state and each had unique talents that allowed this class to be instrumental in helping the Legislature pass 12 years of conservative legislation.  I truly appreciate my fellow freshman of 2011 and all that we accomplished.”

“Any legislator knows that without the support of their family, it is very difficult to do this job right.  I want to thank my wife and children for their encouragement and help with campaigning and parades.  I also want to thank all my great staff, volunteers, and finally, the voters who trusted in me,” Kuglitsch affirmed.

Representative Kuglitsch was born in Milwaukee on February 3, 1960, and is married with 4 children.  He graduated from New Berlin West High School in 1978 and earned a B.A. in Business from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1983.  Rep. Kuglitsch is a former member of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association (Past President), the Bowling Centers Association of Wisconsin (Past President), and the New Berlin Chamber of Commerce (Past President).  He was elected to Assembly in 2010, was Chair of the State Affairs Committee in 2012, and has been Chair of the Assembly Energy & Utilities Committee for the past 8 years advocating for safe and reliable energy for the ratepayers of Wisconsin.

Rep. Kuglitsch was a Boway Institute for Legislative Leadership Development (BILLD) Fellow in 2012 from the Council of State Governments and is currently the National Chair of Energy, Environment & Agriculture for the American Legislative Exchange Council.
