Madison, Wisc. – Chairman John Macco (R-Ledgeview) and Vice-Chair Robert Wittke (R- Wind Point) released the following statement regarding the report released by the Legislative Fiscal Bureau projecting an additional $3.8 billion dollar surplus by June.

“Since 2011, Republicans have cut taxes by more than $13 billion, all while investing in state priorities. As Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Ways and Means we are proud of our mission to create fair, simple, and low tax legislation this includes using surplus to buy down income tax.

According to the Laffer economic report, Wisconsin surpassed 15 states in the past 10 years in Economic Outlook. This shows that fiscally responsible policies will draw more businesses into our state, making Wisconsin more competitive and an even more desirable place to live. We are excited to be able to use these continuing surpluses to reduce tax rates even further in the next budget.”
