Bayfield, Wis. — State Representative Beth Meyers (D-Bayfield) released the following
statement regarding the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s ruling on ballot drop boxes:

“Our elections are only fair and free when we give every Wisconsinite every opportunity we can to vote in local, state, and federal elections. Not everyone’s polling place is just ‘down the street’, and this is especially true in the 74th Assembly District of Northern Wisconsin. Ensuring that every individual has the chance to fulfill their right to vote by providing mail-in ballots and drop-boxes is the absolute least we can do. Based on this ruling, it is clear that Republicans at all levels of government are hell-bent on restricting access to the ballot box whenever and however they can. Today’s ruling by the Republican majority of the Wisconsin Supreme Court is yet another political decision that will disenfranchise Wisconsinites.

“Today’s ruling will disproportionately affect working families, people who are disabled, and people who rely on drop boxes to cast their ballots. We need to be making it easier for every eligible voter to cast their ballot, not harder.”
