Madison – Representative LaKeshia Myers (D-Milwaukee), issued the following statement regarding Judge Ketanji Brown -Jackson’s confirmation to the Supreme Court as the 116th Associate justice of the United States:
“Judge Jackson persevered through over more than twenty hours of questions during the hearing. She conveyed her competence with poise by answering, politically charged questions with grace. There is no questioning Judge Jackson’s qualifications for the position, given her experience as a public defender and federal jurist.
Today marks a critical turning point in our country history; Judge Jackson not only is first African American woman to serve on the United States Supreme Court, her appointment provides another plank in the bridge to achieving the equity and access in the United States. Judge Jackson is paving the way for future generations and inspiring those who look like her to believe they, too can achieve such greatness.
