MADISON – Yesterday, members of the Assembly Democratic Caucus, led by Representative Gordon Hintz (D-Oshkosh), Representative Mark Spreitzer (D-Beloit), Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison), and Representative Jodi Emerson (D-Eau Claire), introduced a resolution to end the Assembly Republicans’ sham investigation of Wisconsin’s 2020 election led by Michael Gableman. Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubuaer (D-Racine) released the following statement in support:

“Enough is enough. Speaker Vos and Michael Gableman have wasted hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars on yet another sham review of the November 2020 election. Now, having blown deadline after deadline to end this boondoggle, Vos and Gableman can’t even agree on when a final report should be delivered.

“Since the beginning, this poorly disguised attempt to undermine Wisconsin’s democracy has been messy, misinformed, and expensive. The public’s trust in our electoral system has been shaken by the GOP’s constant attacks on the results of the 2020 election. It’s time for the Gableman ‘investigation’ to end.

“The people of Wisconsin are tired of this charade. This resolution will shut down the phony investigation once and for all. The investigation has gone on for far too long, and I am proud to join my colleagues in standing up against these attacks on our democracy.

“Wisconsin’s elections are fair, secure, and transparent. The results of the 2020 election have been counted, recounted, litigated, and upheld across the board. It is time for the GOP and provocateurs on the right to accept reality, cease spreading lies, and stop wasting taxpayer money.”
