MADISON – Following the release of today’s updated revenue estimates from the Legislative Fiscal Bureau, Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) released the following statement:

“Today’s new revenue estimates show that Wisconsin is on the way to a strong economic recovery, even while we grapple with the ongoing pandemic. Thanks to sound fiscal leadership and thoughtful management of federal relief funds by Governor Evers, Wisconsin is seeing yet another set of extraordinary revenue projections. With this new projected surplus, we have the opportunity to invest in the priorities of Wisconsinites.

“Today’s projections and Wisconsin’s record-low unemployment are signs that we are continuing to recover from the pandemic’s economic damage and that our economy is continuing to grow. This is our signal not to let up. We must continue to support Governor Evers in making sound fiscal decisions that will help Wisconsinites face rising costs and will put more money in their pockets.”

The new, unprecedented projections from the Legislative Fiscal Bureau report that the state will take in $2.9 billion more than was previously estimated. They also project that the state will finish the 2021-23 budget with a $3.8 billion surplus.
