MADISON – Following the conclusion of today’s Assembly floor session, Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) released the following statement:

“Time is quickly running out this session as Republicans fail to bring legislation to the floor that would actually address the challenges that Wisconsinites are facing. We need to prioritize what time we have left for passing bills that would provide meaningful relief to the families who need it.

“The legislation that the GOP brought to the floor today would punish Wisconsinites who need access to public assistance programs. We need to be supporting quality workforce initiatives that invest in people and that strengthen access to childcare, transit options, and affordable housing for working families. It is disappointing that legislative Republicans would rather barrel ahead with harmful changes to our workforce laws than work with us to pursue real solutions to the challenges we face as a state.

“It’s time to prioritize and act on proactive, sustained investments for our communities. With the time we have left in session, I sincerely hope that the GOP finds the courage to join us in this effort.”
