MADISON – Today, the Wisconsin State Supreme Court handed down their decision on Wisconsin’s legislative redistricting process. Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) released the following statement in response:
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the people should choose their representatives, not the other way around. Of the options before the Wisconsin State Supreme Court, I am pleased that they declined to choose the GOP’s proposed maps, which would have further cemented a permanent and unrepresentative legislative majority. Governor Evers’ proposed maps represent a step in the right direction, given the restrictions imposed by the Wisconsin State Supreme Court.
“I am committed to continuing fighting for nonpartisan redistricting. Without fair maps and a nonpartisan drawing process, the will of the people will continue to be distorted in the state legislature.”
