Madison – Today State Representative Adam Neylon (R-Pewaukee) issued the following statement in response to voting to suspend the Wisconsin Elections Commission’s (WEC) Emergency Rule 2209:
“A rule cannot conflict with statute and this rule from WEC does. I voted to suspend WEC’s illegal ballot curing rule because it mandates local election clerks to change absentee ballots. The statutes do not give WEC the power to direct clerks to alter absentee ballots. Furthermore, WEC didn’t even show up to testify in today’s hearing, despite being invited, to explain why they wrote a rule that is in violation of state law.”
