On Monday, July 4th, 2022, there was a mass shooting during a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, IL and a murder in Kenosha.
Rep. Ohnstad offered the following statement:
“I am grieving with the families who lost a loved one during the mass shooting in Highland Park and later that day in Kenosha. As Americans were celebrating their freedom, innocent people were murdered. This is absolutely sickening and enough is enough. We need to act.”
“While we do not know the specifics to what occurred on Monday in Kenosha, we know this was yet another act of gun violence in our community. Gun violence continues to get worse and worse as the months go by, and it is clear we need to do something. I am going to continue to advocate for common-sense gun safety legislation at the state and federal levels.”
