MADISON, Wis. – Earlier this evening, Governor Tony Evers delivered his State of the State Address to the people of Wisconsin. In the address, he highlighted his accomplishments over the last year which included signing one of the largest tax cuts in state history, and generating a substantial $3.8 billion surplus. His policies also produced $1.7 billion for Wisconsin’s rainy day fund – the largest total in history. In addition to these achievements, he announced investments in rural broadband, student mental health, small businesses, transportation infrastructure, and increased access to healthcare. In response, Representative Pope (D-Mt. Horeb) released the following statement:

“Since his election, Governor Evers has continuously held steady on his promise to put current and future generations of Wisconsinites first. His leadership and his commitment to the people has helped Wisconsin thrive in the face of ongoing obstacles and challenges. As the education governor, he recognizes that our success depends on our children’s success. His investments in public education and the mental health of our students will pave the way for our sustained economic and academic growth.

“Governor Evers’ service and strategic approach to governing has put Wisconsin on a path to improve the lives of everyday people. His compassion, empathy, and dedication to moving our state forward continues to make our great state a place for people of all backgrounds to find success and prosperity.
