MADISON – Representative Sara Rodriguez (D-Brookfield) issued the following statement about Governor Tony Evers’ plan to use surplus funds to help Wisconsin families:
“We are fortunate to have a strong, resilient economy in Wisconsin. Our state has record low unemployment and unprecedented revenue projections. However, we must acknowledge that two years into the COVID-19 pandemic, we are still recovering, not recovered. The pocketbook of the average Wisconsinite is hurting, and your government has the means and tools to help.
“Governor Evers is proposing real solutions to help people now. We should use the budget surplus–money we have thanks to the hard work of the taxpayers in our state–to support those who are struggling. I can’t wait to get back in the Assembly chamber and vote on proposals to help those with child care and dependent care needs, to invest in education, and to give money back to the people.”
