MADISON – Today, State Representative Mark Spreitzer (D-Beloit) joined Rep. Gordon Hintz (D-Oshkosh), Rep. Lisa Subeck (D-Madison), and Rep. Jodi Emerson (D-Eau Claire) to introduce a resolution to end the sham investigation into the November 2020 election, which has wasted hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars.
“It is crystal clear that the far-right extremists who are lying about our elections and pushing conspiracy theories would love nothing more than to continue to waste taxpayer money lining the pockets of their friends and political allies,” said Rep. Spreitzer. “This must stop.”
The resolution put forward by the Representatives recognizes that the Office of Special Counsel created by Speaker Robin Vos has been overrun with political operatives and conspiracy theorists, so it eliminates the Office of Special Counsel and terminates the employment of every individual in that office. The resolution affirms the results of the 2020 presidential election and denounces the repeated efforts by former President Trump and Wisconsin Republicans to throw out the votes of Wisconsin citizens.
“Time and time again, we have seen that our nonpartisan election officials are doing their best despite an avalanche of innuendo and lies being thrown at them by Republicans,” said Rep.Spreitzer. “The 2020 election was open, transparent, and fair. The results of the 2020 election have been consistently upheld. It is time for Donald Trump and the far right to accept that he lost, and it is time for the State Assembly to stop wasting taxpayer money on a politically motivated sham.”
