MILWAUKEE, WI— Today, Congressman Bryan Steil (WI-01), Ranking Member on the Select Committee on the Economy, issued the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the March Consumer Price Index Report, which is a measure of inflation.

“It is clear: inflation is not transitory. The record price increases each month are a direct result of one-party control and reckless economic policies. Families, seniors, and workers continue to get punched in this face by rising prices. It’s time for Washington to focus on addressing the issues impacting every American and get prices under control.”

Background: 

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the CPI rose to an annualized rate of 8.5% in March 2022. This is up from February 2022, which reported a 7.9% CPI. Real wages are reported to be -3.6% due to inflation.
