MADISON, WI- On Tuesday, members of the Wisconsin Legislative Black Caucus kicked off Black History Month 2022 alongside Governor Evers and Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes. As the Chairwoman of the Wisconsin Legislative Black Caucus, Representative Stubbs released the following statement:

“Black History Month is a special time in our country. It is a time to highlight the achievements and contributions of Black Americans, as well as a time to reflect on the important work that has yet to be done.”

“Black History is American History. Black Americans had and continue to have a key part in building this country. We are leaders, activists, professionals, entrepreneurs and so much more. Today, we continue to build off of the accomplishments of our history to create future success. As former First Lady Michelle Obama once said, “There are still many causes worth sacrificing for, so much history yet to be made.”

“Over this next month, members of the Wisconsin Legislative Black Caucus will be hosting events that will cover a variety of policy areas that are vital to our community. As the Chair of the Wisconsin Legislative Black Caucus, it is an honor to share these events and to see all the work that our members put into them. Together, we can make Wisconsin a more equitable place for all families in our state.”
