MADISON – Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) released the following statement regarding Governor Tony Evers’s announcement that more than $600,000 in funding will be made available by the state from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to help local communities voluntarily test for polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
“No Wisconsinite should have to worry about whether their community’s water is safe to drink. The Governor’s funding announcement will enable local communities to test their municipal water supply for PFAS, a critical step toward eliminating dangerous chemicals in our drinking water. I am encouraged that more testing will provide us with the opportunity to more fully address contamination through mitigation when PFAS are detected.”
Representative Lisa Subeck has represented the 78th Assembly District since 2015 and serves as vice-chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus.
