Madison…Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) would like to announce that the 18th Annual State of the Tribes address is scheduled for Tuesday, February 22 at 1 p.m. in the Wisconsin State Assembly. The Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council, Inc. has notified the speaker’s office that President Shannon Holsey of Stockbridge-Munsee will be giving this year’s address.
“This annual event is an important Assembly tradition,” said Speaker Vos. “It gives us the opportunity to learn more and work together on the issues tribal nations face.”
The State of the Tribes address began in 2005. Each year the council selects a member to give the address. Constitutional officers, members of the state Supreme Court and Senate are invited to attend. The speech is open to the public and will be livestreamed on WisconsinEye.
