Madison…Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) released the following statement regarding Representative Samantha Kerkman (R-Salem Lakes) leaving the State Assembly to assume the role of Kenosha County Executive.

“I want to thank Rep. Kerkman for her years of service, first as a staffer and then as an elected official. Sam has been a real asset to the caucus as the Majority Caucus Sergeant and the Chair of the Audit Committee.

“Sam was dedicated to conducting audits, finding millions of dollars to give back to the hardworking taxpayers. The most notable is the unemployment insurance audit where $86 million was discovered and returned to the taxpayers.

“She’s a great friend, and the Capitol will not be the same without her. While I will miss working together, I am excited about her new opportunity and wish her the best of luck. I know she will use the skills she acquired here and take them to the local level to do the job better than ever.”

Kerkman also serves on the Kenosha County Local Emergency Management Planning Committee, the Twin Lakes Chamber Association, and Kenosha Area Business Alliance and is a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Wheatland.
