Madison…Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) praised today’s session day to help move people from government dependence to independence by getting individuals back to work.

“For over a year, Republicans have led the way on addressing the workforce crisis in Wisconsin while Governor Evers does nothing. Governor Evers has a long pattern of failed leadership in managing the UI disaster, and when given the chance to end the enhanced federal benefits, he chose to veto the legislation.

“Today, my colleagues and I voted to provide real solutions to the workforce crisis by passing the Stronger Workforce Initiative to get the 90,000 people currently not working back into the labor force.”

The Wisconsin State Assembly passed a series of bills that promote re-employment, encourage job training, protect the safety net programs, conduct more frequent eligibility checks, eliminate fraud, and reform government programs that are competing with businesses that are looking for workers.
