Milwaukee, Wis. – On Thursday December 8th,, 6 out of 7 Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors who sit on the Finance Committee voted in favor of putting referendum on the Spring ballot to overturn State Statute 940.04, which currently makes most abortions illegal in the State of Wisconsin. Reproductive Justice Action – Milwaukee (RJA-M) has been petitioning the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors to make Milwaukee a safe haven for abortion access since July 2022. Today is the first step in allowing Milwaukee County residents’ voices to be officially heard on this subject. Next, it must pass through the County Board meeting on Thursday December 16th.

RJA-M encourages all Milwaukee County Residents to reach out to their County Supervisor to encourage them to vote on December 16th in favor of putting the abortion referendum on the Spring ballot for the Supreme Court elections. This Supreme Court election is the closest Wisconsin will get to voting on abortion rights state wide. Having an abortion referendum on the ballot calls attention to the importance of this election and allows Milwaukeeans to have their voices heard.

Reproductive Justice Action – Milwaukee (RJA-M) is a new grassroots organization in Milwaukee focused on fighting for Reproductive Justice for all humans. We stand in opposition of the system(s) that deny human rights to any person regardless of gender, race, or sexual orientation.
