MADISON…In a recent anti-trust lawsuit against Wisconsin farmers, Governor Evers and Attorney General Kaul’s Department of Justice is shutting down Morning Glory Dairy, a dairy plant in De Pere, Wisconsin. Representatives from Northeastern Wisconsin, Shae Sortwell (R-Gibson), David Steffen (R-Green Bay), and John Macco (R-Ledgeview), released the following statements on the matter:

“This action is more of the same from Governor Evers and Attorney General Kaul. All they know how to do is shut down businesses,” said Rep. Sortwell. “Don’t they see the empty shelves caused by Democrat policies? Don’t they see the mothers who can’t find formula for their babies? And they choose now to shut down our food suppliers.”

“It’s unbelievable and very unfortunate that our Attorney General is working so hard to close down one of our historic and vital dairy plants here in Northeast Wisconsin,” said Rep. Steffen. “This is certainly not the way to address the near-recession economic situation in our state, not to mention the supply-chain issues and shortages that are hurting Wisconsinites right now.”

“Shutting down businesses not only affects those at the top, but it impacts our communities who are employed by the big business,” said Rep. Macco. “The action of closing this plant without any plan for their dedicated employees is unacceptable.”

The DOJ order comes as economic concerns of inflation, record-high gas prices, and supply-chain issues under the Biden administration continue to plague Wisconsin’s working and middle-class families. The milk processing plant is set to close as of July 9th.
