MADISON – Yesterday, State Treasurer and candidate for U.S. Senate Sarah Godlewski traveled to Milwaukee to host a roundtable discussion on the pain that senseless gun violence causes in Wisconsin communities. The meeting included parents, community advocates, and residents whose lives had been impacted by gun violence.

“Yesterday, I heard from Milwaukee parents who have lost loved ones to gun violence and who are infuriated by inaction in Congress,” said Sarah Godlewski. “Wisconsinites want commonsense gun legislation, but nothing will change when politicians like Ron Johnson are in the pocket of the NRA. Unlike him, I’ll never back down in this fight, because our kids deserve to grow up in safe communities without fear of gun violence.”

Ron Johnson has said tragedies like the Uvalde school shooting are linked to  “wokeness” and “critical race theory.” Unlike him, Sarah understands the pain and fear that the threat of this violence poses for families in Wisconsin and across the U.S., and she knows Congress isn’t doing enough to resolve this crisis. That’s why she met with Milwaukee parents and community members yesterday to listen to their concerns and discuss how as Senator she will fight to give Wisconsin parents and students the peace of mind they deserve.
