MADISON – Today, the U.S. House passed the Protecting Our Kids Act, which would raise the age limit for purchasing a semi-automatic rifle to 21 and address gun trafficking and untraceable firearms. On the heels of the devastating Uvalde school shooting and a gun scare at a middle school here in Wisconsin, State Treasurer and candidate for U.S. Senate Sarah Godlewski today called on the Senate to quickly pass this commonsense legislation that would protect Wisconsin communities and families.

“Every minute our leaders fail to confront the gun violence epidemic in this country, our children pay the price,” said Sarah Godlewski. “Thoughts and prayers aren’t going to cut it, the Senate needs to quickly pass legislation, and if they can’t get this done, we need to send new leaders to Congress who won’t rest until our communities are safe from gun violence.”

While Ron Johnson is focused on conspiracy theories, Sarah is traveling to Wisconsin communities and listening to Wisconsinites’ demands for sensible gun legislation. Last week, Sarah traveled to Milwaukee to host a gun violence roundtable where she heard how gun violence has personally touched residents’ lives and discussed how she will fight for commonsense solutions to address this crisis.
