Reedsburg, Wis. — Michael Screnock, current Sauk County Circuit Court Judge, and former Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate announced his re-election campaign today. Screnock has served in his current role since 2015 following his appointment by Governor Scott Walker. In 2016, Judge Screnock ran unopposed to retain his seat and continue to serve the people of Sauk County.

“Since 2015, it has been my honor to serve the people of Sauk County.” Judge Screnock said. “In that time, a lot has changed in our county, but our citizens’ belief in, as well as the need for fair, impartial, and strong members of the judiciary has not. In my six years on the bench, I have striven to uphold these values for the people of our county, and I will continue to if re-elected to another term.”.

Judge Screnock was raised and graduated high school in Baraboo before choosing to attend UW Madison where he sought and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Judge Screnock next attended Eastern College (now University) and received his MBA with an emphasis in Urban Economic Development in 1992.

Following that, Judge Screnock returned to Sauk County where he ran the City of Reedsburg’s community development program, before serving as Reedsburg’s full-time building inspector and then finance director. The family left Sauk County so Michael could serve the Chequamegon Bay region in northern Wisconsin—first as Washburn’s city administrator and then as Ashland’s finance director.

In 2006, Michael Screnock returned to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to attend law school, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree. Judge Screnock went on to accept a position with Michael Best & Friedrich law firm in its Madison office. His work focused on civil litigation and administrative proceedings in a wide variety of subject areas, including real estate and land use disputes, governmental regulation, assessment and taxation, public utility regulation, environmental law, and election law.

Today, Judge Michael Screnock serves as the presiding judge for the full Sauk County Circuit Court, is a member of the Sauk County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, and also sits on the Legislative Committee for the Wisconsin Judicial System. Judge Screnock is also very proud of his work of presiding over the Sauk County Adult Treatment Court since its inception in January 2016.

Michael and his wife Karen are proud parents to their three adult sons, two daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren.
