MADISON – Senator Melissa Agard (D-Madison) released the following statement thanking outgoing members, Senator Janet Bewley (D-Mason), Senator Jon Erpenbach (D-West Point), and Senator Janis Ringhand (D-Evansville) for their years of service to Wisconsin:

“It has been an honor serving with Senator Bewley, Senator Erpenbach, and Senator Ringhand. Taken together, they gave just shy of fifty years of service to our state. Their knowledge, experiences, and grit will be deeply missed by the caucus, their districts, and the people of Wisconsin.”

“Senator Janet Bewley has served Northern Wisconsin for 12 years. She was motivated by her constituents in the 25th Senate District and her love for Wisconsin. Our caucus relied on Janet for her steadfast leadership, integrity, and compassion.

“Senator Jon Erpenbach retires with over 20 years of state service. As a dedicated public servant, the people of the 27th Senate District always knew their best interests were at the forefront of Jon’s work. The institutional knowledge he brought to our caucus and his leadership, wit, and levity will be missed by all.

“Senator Janis Ringhand has also been a wonderful colleague in the State Senate, led by her dedication to her constituency in the 15th Senate District and her dedication to working for the interests of all Wisconsinites. We will miss the pragmatism, thoughtfulness, and sincerity that she brought with her to work each day.

“I know that over the years Janet, Jon, and Janis had incredible teams of staff to support the work they were doing for the people of Wisconsin. We cannot do our job as legislators without the dedicated and talented staff who run the day to day operations of our offices. My sincerest well wishes to all staff as they prepare for their next chapter.

“I wish Janet, Jon, and Janis all the best in their retirement and future endeavors and know my Senate Democratic colleagues join me in these well wishes
