Madison… Senator Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan) authored four bills that passed the State Senate. These bills now go on to the Assembly for consideration before heading to the governor’s desk.

The first bill, Senate Bill 252, extends a tax incremental district in Wisconsin Dells. Tax Incremental Districts (TIDs) provide funding for eligible developments including upgrading road networks, extending electric and gas utilities and more.

“Wisconsin Dells has a long history of successful economic and tourism developments,” said Ballweg. “This targeted proposal will allow shovel-ready projects to move forward and keep the area’s status a preeminent tourist destination for years to come.”

Other Ballweg bills approved by the Senate, include:

  • Senate Bills 603 and 604, which streamlines and clarifies family court processes.
  • Senate Bill 627, which allows a parent to change the last name of their child, who is 14 years old or younger, without the approval of the other parent if that parent was convicted of certain heinous sex crimes or homicide.
