Madison Today State Senator Kelda Roys was appointed to the powerful Joint Committee on Finance by Democratic Leader Melissa Agard. The Committee is comprised of 16 members – 12 Republicans and 4 Democrats, and 8 Senators and Assembly Representatives each. Its duties include receiving the Governor’s biennial budget and reviewing all state spending and revenue.

Sen. Roys issued the following statement upon her appointment:

“I thank Democratic Leader Agard for giving me this chance to advance Wisconsin values by fighting for a budget that brings opportunity and fairness to every Wisconsinite. I am honored by her trust in me and grateful for the ability to serve this state we love in this capacity.

“Thanks to Gov. Evers, Wisconsin has an historic $5 billion budget surplus. Now is the time to make critical investments in Wisconsin families that are long overdue – from funding local government services and public schools to advancing tax fairness by reducing taxes on everyday Wisconsinites. I look forward to serving on Joint Finance and hearing from our fellow Wisconsinites about their needs and priorities.”
