“When I ran for office, I promised to get Wisconsin’s budget back on track and keep it there. Thanks to responsible spending and tax cuts by the Republican Legislature, Wisconsin now has a projected record budget surplus of $3.8 billion.  

“It’s important to remember that this is only a projected surplus. With inflation running wild and supply and workforce shortages across Wisconsin and the country, we don’t know what the next year will bring to our economy or to our budget. Waiting until we have a better picture of the challenges and opportunities of the next budget before returning the surplus to taxpayers is the prudent thing to do.”
