Four years ago, he decided to ignore the siting recommendation that he voted for, and tried to place a prison with great local opposition. It appears that he is repeating the same mistake, focusing on the Felmers Chaney Center, which provides critical services for re-entry to society. Felmers Chaney, rightly, also has great opposition.
This is Evers’ second chance to get serious about juvenile justice and work with stakeholders to find an appropriate location. His top-down approach isn’t working and Wisconsin’s kids and neighborhoods are suffering because of it. ”
