The Senate Leadership Fund, which is aligned with Senate Republicans, has launched a second wave of ads targeting Dem Mandela Barnes on public safety.

The group has filed reports with the FEC totaling nearly more than $5.1 million in independent expenditures between Aug. 31 and today. That includes more than $3.1 million on TV.

The narrator in the new 30-second TV ad asks if viewers feel safe before saying Barnes would eliminate cash bail, “setting accused criminals free into the community before trial.” The ad goes on to note there were more than 300 homicides in Wisconsin last year.

“Yet Barnes has even supported defunding the police,” the narrator says. “Mandela Barnes, he stands with them, not us.”
