“First off, I would like to thank Governor Evers for his calm demeanor and steady hand at a time when the State Capitol is riddled with conspiracy theories and fringe politics. I appreciate the Governor’s calm approach and how he has kept his focus on moving Wisconsin forward.

The Governor’s State of the State address reflects the person Tony Evers is. Governor Evers isn’t looking for headlines, he is looking to make Wisconsin a great place to work and live for everyone, not just those who share his vision.

While Republicans in the legislature remain focused courting the far fringes of their base, Governor Evers has kept his focus on using pandemic relief funds to help families, farmers, small businesses and tourism. Coming out of the pandemic, Wisconsin has its lowest unemployment rate in history and more people working than ever before.

On top of that, Governor Evers was able to provide one of the largest tax cuts in state history by reducing middle class taxes by 15%. He delivered for everyday people without giving in to the powerful and wealthy.

Under Governor Evers, Wisconsin’s budget surplus now stands at $3.8 billion and our rainy day fund is at its highest level ever at $1.7 billion.

Despite the Governor’s best efforts, there are still those who are making it their mission to tear the people of Wisconsin apart.

I would remind those who are focused on the fringes that most people in Wisconsin are in the middle. The vast majority of people will be here long after the conspiracy theories fade away. We would be better served by working towards a brighter future instead of focusing on the past.

In the end, it has been through the steady hand of Governor Evers that Wisconsin is ranked second in the country for directing aid to economic development, and first in the country in aid to businesses.
