Madison, WI — Today, Judge Chris Taylor announced that she has 1,748 nomination paper signatures that have been verified by Wisconsin Election Commission staff, well over the 1,000 signatures needed to qualify for the spring ballot.  Since her filing on Monday, she has received hundreds more nomination signatures, totaling well over 2,000.  In response to the overwhelming public support of her candidacy, Judge Taylor issued the following statement:

“I am so honored and humbled by the tremendous amount of support I have received throughout District 4 since launching my candidacy for the Court of Appeals just a few weeks ago.  Running for office is never possible without help from others and building a team to get you across the finish line.  This race and the judiciary in general is about people, making sure people have access to fairness and justice in the courts.  And I am so honored to have the support of Wisconsinites throughout the twenty-four counties comprising District 4 – from Waupaca, to La Crosse, to Rock County, and everywhere in between.

“I am also thrilled to have the support of those with whom I have worked, including all of the judges on the Dane County bench, political leaders including Congressman Mark Pocan and State Representative Francesca Hong, and judges including all of the currently seated Court of Appeals District 4 judges and Supreme Court Justice Jill Karofsky.

“Thank you to everyone who has helped me qualify for the spring ballot. I look forward to continuing to travel around District 4 and earning the support of voters. I pledge to always contribute to maintaining a judiciary that is fair, balanced, and independent, that honors and respects people’s fundamental freedoms.”

Judge Taylor has been the presiding judge in Branch 12 of the Dane County Circuit Court since her appointment by Governor Tony Evers in 2020 and her election in 2021. She is a former state legislator, public policy director for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and practicing attorney.  The Spring Primary Election is February 21, 2023 and the Spring General Election is April 4, 2023.
