[Fox Crossing] – Andrew Thomsen, candidate for Wisconsin Senate District 19, released the following statement in response to the recent United States Supreme Court decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen:

“Today is a win for the Second Amendment and the Constitution.  The Supreme Court struck down a New York law limiting who can carry a concealed firearm in public and recognized that the Second Amendment protects a person’s right to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home.  The Supreme Court has undermined Democrats attempts to limit or regulate our firearm ownership.  Nevertheless, we still have a lot of work to do to ensure that we have responsible firearm owners across the United States, including focusing on mental health, but the Supreme Court has affirmed what we all knew—the Second Amendment protects our rights to possess firearms.”
