[Fond du Lac, WI…] Fond du Lac District Attorney Eric Toney today announced five new district attorney endorsements including a former Assistant Attorney General for his attorney general campaign.
Richard Dufour, a former Assistant Attorney General under Josh Kaul and Brad Schimel, said Eric Toney is the best choice to serve as Wisconsin’s next attorney general. Dufour is also the former Marquette County District Attorney, and is now serving as an Assistant District Attorney in Outagamie County.
“Violence and drugs are spreading across the state, DOJ needs more criminal prosecutors, DCI needs to be fully staffed, and the crime lab is suffering from Josh Kaul’s mismanagement. Now is not the time to be playing politics with public safety,” said ADA Dufour, a former DA and AAG. “Eric Toney is a respected leader and frontline prosecutor, and he’s the crimefighter Wisconsin needs right now. I’m excited to endorse his campaign for attorney general.”
District Attorney Toney today released the following new district attorney endorsements:
- Winnebago County District Attorney Eric Sparr
- Waushara County District Attorney Matthew Leusink
- Marathon County District Attorney Theresa Wetzsteon
- Marquette County District Attorney Richard Dufour (retired)
- Crawford County District Attorney Tim Baxter (retired)
District Attorney Toney, law enforcement’s choice for attorney general, is endorsed by more than 100 sheriffs, district attorneys, and police chiefs dwarfing those of his GOP primary opponent. He is also endorsed by the Milwaukee Police Association (MPA), WI Fraternal Order of Police, and the Racine Police Association. The MPA said their decision to endorse Toney was a ‘matter of life and death’ as the state’s largest city is experiencing record crime and murder rates.
District Attorney Toney is also the choice of Republican grassroots activists who voted overwhelmingly for Toney at the recent RPW convention scoring an impressive 54% to 27% victory over his closest GOP primary opponent. Toney swept the so-called WOW counties (Waukesha, Ozaukee, Washington) and even won his primary opponent’s home county.
“I’m honored to have the deepest support from law enforcement and Republican grassroots activists of any candidate running for attorney general,” said District Attorney Toney. “I decided to run for attorney general because Josh Kaul is beholden to the left-wing, woke mob and is failing to lead Wisconsin through this violent crime epidemic. Violent criminals are literally getting away with murder under Kaul’s watch. That ends on day one once I’m sworn in as Wisconsin’s next attorney general.”
