WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) released the following statement in response to recent reports of the leaked draft opinion in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

“This reported decision in Dobbs would be a major victory for the pro-life movement and I’m proud to have added my name to the Congressional amicus brief in support of the Mississippi position. However, the leak of the draft opinion is just the latest attempt by the left to intimidate the Court,” said Congressman Fitzgerald.  “I will continue to push back against the radical anti-life policies of this administration and bullying tactics against the Justices. This ruling must move forward so that lawmakers can further strengthen protections for the unborn.”

BACKGROUND

Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization is a case involving a Mississippi law that limits abortion after 15 weeks. The U.S. Supreme Court will address whether all pre-viability abortion limits are unconstitutional. Science shows unborn children can feel pain by 15 weeks if not earlier.
