WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) made the following statement regarding the recovery of Sue Borries and Deb Velleman.

Borries and Velleman went missing earlier this year on January 3, in a plane crash along the Panama coast. After more than 690 hours of searching, the Aeronautical Civil Authority of Panama announced the recovery of the two women.

“I am relieved to hear the news today that Sue Borries and Deb Velleman have been recovered and will soon be brought home to their families in the U.S.,” said Congressman Fitzgerald“My condolences go out to both Sue and Deb’s families. They have endured an arduous search over the past month. I pray that they find closure and may begin to heal from this immense grief.”

“This recovery happened in no small part due to the efforts of Bruce’s Legacy, a local volunteer organization in Wisconsin providing search and recovery operations for families. I am grateful for the organization’s hard work. This mission was accomplished thanks to their help,” Congressman Fitzgerald added.
