On the Senate’s move to ban TikTok:

“This was a no brainer. And I urge Speaker Pelosi to take up companion legislation in the House. It’d be a far better use of our time than trying to ram through a gigantic Omnibus spending bill at the last second that nobody has read. We have a bipartisan precedent now in the Senate. Furthermore, it’s going to be hard for the Democratic Senators who are now on record, recognizing TikTok as a national security threat to not support a more broad band of TikTok. Nationally, it is time that we do something to stop TikTok from becoming the most powerful media company in America because the fundamental problem is that TikTok is owned by ByteDance and ByteDance is controlled by the Chinese Communist Party. That’s why FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr has called it digital fentanyl- it is both highly addictive and ultimately you can trace it back to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).”

On the dangers of TikTok:

“The issue is not just that the CCP via ByteDance via TikTok can track your location, can track your keystrokes, can compile a dossier on you, and they’re hoovering up tons of data from the United States and all over the world…The issue increasingly is that a lot of young Americans get their news from TikTok, which will allow TikTok to censor news according to the dictates of the Chinese Communist Party. That is incredibly damaging. That’s a way in which they can propagandize young Americans. We can’t allow that to happen.”
