WASHINGTON, D.C.– Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today released the following statement after President Biden announced he was extending the pause on student loan repayments.
“The pandemic is over and President Biden has said as much. Continuing to use emergency authorities to extend the pause on student loan repayments is a gross abuse of power that is eroding what remains of Congressional authority. If we continue to let the cancer of executive authority spread unchecked, it will kill the body politic and render Congress useless. House Republicans must put an end to this executive overreach, and we can start by passing legislation that ends the COVID-19 emergency and the executive authorities that come with it.”
